Robin grew up in a small town in Georgia and moved to Mexico in her early twenties to experience life in a different culture. After four years she decided to pursue her degree. She is the first in her family to go to college, and she continued on to earn a Master’s in Applied Linguistics at GSU. In her last year, she applied and was awarded a Fulbright.
In Hungary she was placed in a city in southern Hungary working with disadvantaged Roma, Gypsy youth in both a university and high school. In addition to teaching ESL, she worked to connect her students to English programs in the US. Robin found her work to be so fulfilling, she stayed in Hungary an additional academic year following her Fulbright, in order to continue to teach and advocate for Roma youth in Hungary.
