2018 Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) Winners
Georgia State University hosted the final round of its inaugural Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) Competition on Monday, March 26, 2018
3MT is a research communication competition that was developed by the University of Queensland in Australia in 2008. 3MT helps students enhance their ability to explain research effectively and appropriately to non-specialist audiences. Students have three minutes to present compelling orations on their thesis or dissertation topics and their significance.
Since its inception at the University of Queensland, 19 countries and more than 35 research universities in the United States have held 3MT Competitions among their students.
Outstanding graduate students in Georgia State University’s master’s and doctoral degree programs took top prizes at the university’s Spring 2018 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition held March 26. A panel of three faculty judges evaluated the students’ presentations for the top three awards. The People’s Choice awards were determined through votes by the audience of the event, which was held at Centennial Hall.
6 Master’s and 6 Doctoral students advanced to the final round of the competition. There were first place, second place and People’s Choice Award winners for both the Masters and the Ph.D. categories. First place winners received $500, second place winners received $250, third place winners received $100, and People’s Choice Award winners received a certificate of recognition.
Special thanks to our co-sponsor The University Library.
Congratulations again to all the finalists and the winners for an outstanding job, and thank you to all who showed their support to our students!
